A prodigy is a young person with exceptional abilities thus  in Basketball, age comes with greatness, when a player started his career in very young age his physical athleticism may come as an advantage specially as he mature over years. In PBA rules as long as you finished your college study you can enter the draft . The rules goes like

For local players:

  • Must be 21 years old at the day of the draft (previously 23).
  • If under 21 years of age, the player must have completed four years of college.
  • A college graduate or four years removed from his high school graduation.
  • Must play at least one conference in the PBA D-League or for the Philippine national basketball team (either is required).

For Filipino-foreigners:

  • Same requirements as locals except:
  • Must play at least two conferences in the PBA D-League.
  • If 27 years old or older, the player may no longer play in the PBA D-League.
  • Present documentation from the Department of Justice and the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation to prove their Filipino citizenship.

Here are the players started their PBA in very young age:

#10  Rodney Brondial

Age : 23 (turning 24)
Bitrhdate :  1990-11-20
yr-Pro:  Rookie

Drafted by Ginebra as their very only draft in 2014. Currently Rodney shows how he deserves the #6 pick by the Ginebra, actually he's getting a better playing time than Forrester who got drafted #4  last year.

#9  Rome dela Rosa

Age: 23 (turning 24)
Birthdate: 1990-12-11
Yr Pro : Rookie

He's the son of Romy Dela Rosa, currently drafted by Alaska Aces in round-2 #13 pick.

#8 Anjo Caram

Age : 23

He's one of the small-but-terrible in PBA drafted by Meralco at round3 26-overall pick. At his height and age, he shows his worth in the big league of PBA.

#7 Juami Tiongson

Birthdate: 1991-02-5
Yr-Pro : Rookie

Drafted at round-1 #12 overall pick , Blackwater seens something special about him that no team didn't see that's why he got into the 1st round pick. As of now he's doing a good job and probably the Blackwater is right for picking him that high.

#6 Roider  Cabrera

Age : 23
BIrthdate: 1991-03-15
Yr-Pro : Rookie

The former Adamson Falcons cager should have been drafted earlier but due to a lot of huge high credentials on last years draft he didn't push it. He played big time in D-League and now ready to get his credential to the PBA

#5 Kevin Alas

Kevin Alas is one the guy in the draft who's aiming by a lot of teams specially those looking PG with Ball-IQ. At young age he got free ride to the draft specially he's the son of Louie Alas and made a big name in NCAA Letran

#4 Jeric Fortuna

Age: 22 (turning 23)

Basically Jeric Fortuna is a Prodigy, after he graduated at very young age he started his career in pro-league at the age of 19, he played in ABL and D-League. He only started his career in PBA at the age of 21 , maybe due to his height he got the hard time to enter the draft.

#3 Ian Sangalang

Age: 22 (turning 23)
Birthdate: 1991-12-20
Yr-Pro: Sophomore

This gentle giant is just young when he started his PBA career. At the age of 21 nobody notice he's still young and play like a Pro indeed a prodigy. He's one of the key player of San Mig Coffee reaching their Grandslams.

#1  Terrence  Romeo

Age: 22
BirthdatDate: 1992-03-16

No doubt he's  the real meaning of Prodigy in basketball despite the hates upon him.  Romeo started his basketball career in very young age and gotten a lot of awards. Started from his UAAP junior career where he got his MVP and then he got his Rookie of the year in his senior years then after more years he eventually harvested his MVP.
It's been easy free ride for him to get to the PBA which in the age of 21 the Globalport drafted him as their #5 pick overall. In his first year he have shown his worth and greatness specially his remarkable game against his idol Mark Caguioa in Globalport vs Ginebra last year. As of now, Romeo has a long way to go to reach his goal as he continues to strive of his greatness.
